I set up a domain on 2K Server with Active Directory included, added an account for the workstation in active directory users and computers (both computer and admin's names), then tried to change the workstation's Networking Properties from the Workgroup to the Domain. I kept getting an error message saying that the "specified Domain does not exist" or something of the sort. Any suggestions? I think it might have something to do with DNS entries on the server, but I don't know what to do about it. I am a dummy, so you must walk me through the process. FWIW, I have never been that successful in changing networking environments. Something always seems to go bump in the night and causes great grief and havoc. To avoid this situation, I now just completely remove the network, the cards, everything. Boot once without networking to make sure nothing gets left over and start a new network installation, configured the new way.

Have you set up the network? Either through DHCP or static addresses? You must be in the same IP range in order for the two machines to talk to each other.

You also should set up DNS. If you follow the "configure my server" wizard will walk you through these processes.
