Our new 2950-24 EI is dedicated to nine network surveilance cameras, which feed a dedicated archive server and a link to the internal network. The cameras have trouble staying connected. Cmd Show Controllers Eth reveals massive collisions. Also no late collisions (no too-long lines).

Two cameras from Axis run (default) at 100/full. Seven Sony cameras run only at 10/half. Collision problem is common to all cameras.

Any thoughts???
Thanks,
Mike

sounds liek a duplex/speed mismatch...

Make sure that auto negotiation is either turned off on the switch port and the camera or on the camera and switch port.

Thanks, guys (I guess you're guys).

Yep, tried all that.
FYI, I chose the Sony cameras (SNC-VL10N) due to a disposition to Sony quality. We also bought two Axis brand cameras. The Axis run at set-able speeds/duplex, while the Sony cams have no allowance for setting them; they default to 10/half. In fact, 100/half or full kills them.

I have tried setting the switch ports to various combinations--auto, 10/half, 100, etc.

Thanks again;

FYI again; if you want a huge data dump from the Cisco, try SHOW TECH. It gave 33 pages of config, counters, memory, port status, etc. --

Yours,
Mike
