We have a 2948G cat running on one of our clients networks. For the past week now this switch has been coming up for about 5 minutes and then going down again, somtimes for 1 hour. This is what is shown to us by Openview. Upon further inspection, it is found that the swtch now suddenly cannot be pinged from anywhere on the network, but the users on that network can still work. Upon checking the switch I found that the switch is definately not power-cycling itself as the uptime continues to increment. Any suggestions to solve this problem will be greatly appreciated.

Make sure the SC0 interface has a unique IP address. If it's duplicate with any other address in the network it will cause Openview to think the switch is down. Since it cannot communicate at all times with that given IP. Hope this helps.
