2616 ringer

Is there a way to turn off the ringer temporaily on a 2616 non display phone? The user often has a cell phone in progress and doesn't want to hear the incoming ringing on his 2616. I tried to turn the ringer down on the phone but it will not let me turn it off completely. Should I program a DND button on this phone so it doesn't ring or is there something in CLS or FTR that will allow him to silence the ringer with the volume bar?

MSB is about the only answer, or you can forward it. MSB only works if the lines only appear on his phone.

What about replacing the scr key with scn key - single call non ringing. Maybe that will work.

no, the msb (dnd) is your only option, scn is only an option on the phone in the switchroom. i doubt if you want a call everytime he uses his cell

Take the handset off-hook and lay it next to the phone and the user will only recieve the notification tone instead of the full ringer.

or....

Use the call forward key, call forward to voicemail...or someone else.
