I need to replace my existing 2612 router with a 2621XM because I need an additional ethernet port. Can I simply use tftp to take a backup on the 2612 and restore it to the 2621XM???

If not, is there any other way to easily transfer my current configs to the new router?

Think you would have a problem with the ethernet ports. Old router termed as interface ethernet0/0...new router probably will be interface fastethernet0/0 so tftp would probably no work. Save as a text file then you can edit, cut, and paste into new router. Also make sure your new router has the appropriate feature set comparable to the existing router. Would have problems if new router had basic feature set and old router had advanced feature set and was configured to use them. Why not just put a NM-1E into the module slot for an extra ethernet port....save lots of dough.

You can't put a 10/100 Ethernet module in a 2612, just a 10 baseT.

You are right...did not say that you wanted fast ethernet.....You might also consider a router like the 2801 or 2811...a little more pricy but good platform.
