2611 Bandwidth issue

I need to set the bandwidth on a ppp T1 line. The current bandwidth is in the 256k area. My question is, will there be a problem when I increase the bandwidth on one end before the other. The reason for my concern is that my only path to the remote site currently is through that T1. I cannot afford to cut myself off. I cannot physically access the routers, so I need to make sure there wont be a problem.

Which end is a DCE ? I mean, which side has configured the "clock-rate" command?
