I have just installed window 98 on a new hard drive along with some software. I get an error message on a few of the programs that the display must be set at 256 colors. When I go to settings-control panel-display, the only two choices are 2-color and 16-color. The grapics on 16-color realy aren't very good. What can I do?

Thanks in advance for your time.

Steve

Hi,

You most probably don't have the right drivers for your graphic card and/or monitor.

Bye.

if you try changing the display it might give you some more colour options...
try a setting of either
800x600 or 1024x768 or even 640x800
but Id say you need to find the correct drivers for your monitor Jay~

There may be other CD's that came with your system for the graphics card.

Make sure to do this in the exact order I lsted:

Try this:
Right-click on the desktop, choose properties, click the Settings button, then the Advanced button, then the Adapter tab. Is this correct? If not, click the Change button and select it from the list. Now click the Monitor button. Is this correct? If not, click the change button and if your brand doesn't appear in the list, choose the Super VGA 800x600 under (Default Monitor Types)

After rebooting, go back and chage the slider to a higher screen area setting, click Apply, themn OK.

You may have to reboot, then go back a 3rd time and increase the Colors. you should now have it back.
