2501 crashes hyper terminal when connecting over console

Have just brought a refurbished 2501 (supposedly refurbished by cisco)(In actual fact its a replacement for a previous purchase which was found to have a faulty ether port.) I connect to the IOS over console and get the familiar NVRAM invalid possible due to write erase. It continues to boot normally and presents the option to load the configuration dialouge. I try typing no but nothing happens except hyperterminal crashes. I have tried another router and have no problems. If I send ctrl+break to the router during intial boot I get into boot rom mode then the same happens. No input is accepted and hyperterminal crashes. Anyone come across this before and have any bright ideas or is this another "refurbished" blunder on behalf of cisco?

Tried that as well. Pretty much certain the post is faulty. Just wanted to be sure there was nothing I could try before I start jumping up and down with the supplier.

Have you tried the other terminal emulation products, i.e solaris,or tera term?

I have seen a problem on this forum where the OS freezes up on a pix during console connection. The problem turned out to be the onboard battery.

Have tried several different PCs - have tried any other terminal programs as did not have any to hand. I have since returned the router to suppliers and they are sourcing a replacement. Keep your fingers crossed that it will be third time lucky!
