200mhz FSB?

im running an 800mhz Duron on a A7S-VM mboard, does anybody know if i will be able to run a 1.3ghz duron running @ 200hmz fsb? my mboard reports my 800mhz running @ 100mhz fsb but im sure its a 200mhz FSB processor, will i be able to run the 1.3gig chip in it?

The answer is most likely. You can run a 200MHz FSB processor on your motherboard, as long as it is Socket A. There are 2 problems with that, however. One is that you are crippling the capability of the processor. The memory you are using is SDRAM and not DDR SDRAM. This means that the Frontside bus will actually run at the same speed as the memory. Right now, you have the option of PC66/100/133 SDRAM.

If this isn't a main concern to you, then go for it. You will still notice a large improvement over the processor you currently have. Just keep in mind that your mobo is only certified to support up to 1GHz. You may want to shoot an email over to AMD's tech support. Just go to their website at

The Duron 800 is a 100 Mhz frequency processor with the multiplier locked to 8 so your settings are correct for it. I am not sure about the 1.3
