Recently set up IIS 6.0 on 2003 Web Edition (manually because Web Edition does not have a Configure your server wizard) and moved a website (which had formerly been on a hosted server) to it. Website is viewable from internet, thanks in no small part to the ZONEEDIT dynamic DNS service. The web server is running behind a sonicwall firewall, but ports 25,80,110 and 143 are open both ways and static IP nated.

Now trying to get email services running...

I have activated the POP3, and SMTP services and have set up three mailboxes according to the microsoft website instructions. At zoneedit have setup MX record to read servername.domain.com which matches name of computer. I have set up an outlook express mail account on another machine to read the mail from one of those mailboxes with no sucess. Also tried a webmail account. Checked Microsoft Technet forums, Tek-tips, and Google with no luck. Need some direction as this is the first mail server I have attempted to setup. Thanks in advance to any and all help.

From the machine, what do you get when you open the command prompt and ping the servername and ping servername.domain.ext

Do the following an tell me output (when posting, you could change the the ip for security):

- nslookup
- set type=all
- domain.ext

BTW, in a SonicWall Firewall you do not have to implicitly open ports to go out. They are automatically open
