I am in the process of testing Access 2003.
All of our existing databases are Acces97.
I have a test workgroup set up with 3 machines, 1 server 2 cliets.
The data is on the server
If i start a new 2003 database on a client, and link to data in a 97 database on the server I can see the data.
Then I created some queries, then a report based on a query.
When I started to create the report Access ran really slowly everytime I touched a field fom the query. I found that whenever I touch a field access goes back to the server for heeps of data. To the extent on a 10mb network that you get to wait 30 seconds after touching any field, even a label.
I tried disconnecting the server and working on the local application and it went much faster but threw up errors saying the fields were not in the field list, but when i reconnected the server it recovered.
Has anyone else met this,
Is it something to do with the 97 data?
Is there a workarround
Any
Thanks
Tim
