2000 server and advanced server

Hello All
I am planning to buy a W2K server and plan to host a website. I am sure NT server has IIS and hope windows 2000 also has a similar one. I wish to know the differences between W2K server and W2K advanced server. Which one shall I deploy to host the website.

I have seen the https:// protocol where the s stands for secure . If I buy W2K server is it possible for me to configure the IIS or whatsoever to make the website secure , as many people may be logging to my site.

Also I know there is PWS for windows 98 and IIS for NT server. Is there something similar for Windows NT workstation.

As I am new to all these concepts I need some information. Thanks in advance

Two suggestions.

1) I really see no point in going with 2000 advanced server unless you need clustering or over 8 processor support.

2) Really look at how many users/hits you will need to acomodate. If you are looking to the 1000's of hits a day you may want to go with 2000 server. If you are looking at 10 hits every day it would be just as easy to use windows 2000 Pro or even Microsoft XP using the IIS addin.

Also consider what need you have for using a secure connection.

What do I need to have to achieve the secure connection part for my website. If I deploy a windows 2000 server will the secure connection part be achieved.

Secure HTTP is a bit more more using IIS. What do you need it for? Unless you are doing online buying i'd leave it alone. Steve Hewitt
