I got this PC which has scsi disk. It has win2K pro. When I boo it up, it goes thro the boot sequence fine and sees all drives, etc. But after it displays the win2K pro logo, it goes no further.
I have no info on the history of this machine. I then try to reformat the whole thing and try to install Win2k Server. But the setup freezes at the point where it says "starting win2000 server" and again goes no further.
I went into SCSI options, checked the media, which was fine and even did a low level format and tried reinstalling win2k server again. No luck.
Please advise. What Should I do ??
Thanks.

I seen this issue with a bad processor. I know it is weird, but something to look at. You can load software on a formatted drive, but when it goes to process the Operating System it just sits at the flash screen. I had this issue with a few Dell Servers in my past.

What was the solution if any.
Thanks.

Would it be any better if I try to install some other OS like Redhat or something.
Thanks.

The only resolution was to have the processor replaced. I had worked with Dell on the issue. Luckily for me I had two of the same machine (1 worked fine, the other had your issues) and was able to swap out parts until the processor came up as the culprit. If you want to try another operating system, go for it. I was in a full Windows environment, so that option was not tried.
