Hello Gang

I rewired the office this weekend using Cat5 and Cat5e Cable(s) to a 10/100/1000 Linksys 24 port-Switch...
Only 5 machines are equip with Gigabit cards at this time and only 3 of them are detecting the Gigabit network..the remaining 2 ...are running at 100 Mbps (Windows dispalyed and detected Speed)

I have swapped ports on the switch and nothing changed. The only thing remaining is to test the Network Cables but I seriously doubt it.

Am I overlooking something?

Thanks

First make sure that the speed settings on both side of the cable are the same. Do not trust AutoNegotiate.
So set your switchports on 100MB Full Duplex, and your PC NIC's also, then reconnect with your Cat5e cable.
When successfull, then set both sides to 1G Full Duplex.

When you have a connection working on Gigabit, try the other PC's on the same cable.

I have noticed that in some cases Windows is not always telling the truth about the link speed. I've had a Server running on 100MB Half Duplex.
I changed to Full Duplex on both sides. But Windows reported 100Half anyway. Shutdown and physically disconnecting the powercord (and then starting up the box :) solved it.

One more thing you can try and better do is to upgrade the LAN drivers to the latest version.

PalmTest; I don't have any setting option(s) on my switch.
but in one case; it was the cable.. I moved the machine running at 100MB to a different location and it ran at Gig...

As for the other one.. Its still running at 100MB.. I am going to update the drivers per Lambent suggestion..

Thanks guys..
