The Boss'new laptop has the the Centrino Wireless chip and a ethernetRJ45 jack.
in the office: Need to set up a Laptop in Boss's office connected to our (LAN)network thru a cat5 ethernet cable going thru our switches, firewall and router. no problem, done it 100s of times.
AT Home with Road Runner: the boss wants to connect wireless. (Ive already installed a wireless router and switch for the old laptop which works fine.)

Can 2 networks be set up on the same laptop (one wired & one wireless??)
Should the laptop automaticlly see the wireless n/w at home? or will it have to be configured every time it taken home and everytime it's brought in???

Any and all help is appriciated.

the short answer is YES. In Network Connections, there are two distinct connections, LAN and Wireless LAN.

Configuring IP settings for each of these should mean that the laptop will connect to the relevant network at each place.

I do this every day. Wireless at one place and wired at another. Works without a problem.

It should work every time he goes home and gets close enough to his wireless transmitter.

I have several users that work in our offices and then use wireless at home and they normally don't have any problems.

If they do have a problem it's usually because the network setup wizard has bridged the connections and it's really simple to remove the network bridge.
