Hi all.

I have an IP office 406V2 installed in the office with 5 channel VCM and a IP 400 Digital Station. We are using Avaya 5402 digital handsets.
Recently I bought a new IP Office 406V2 with a 24 channel VCM.
I want to replace the old IP Office with this new IP office exchange by keeping all the configuration.
I have send the old configuration to this new exchange throuh Manager which takes the configurations as well but when the Avaya 5402 digital handset dont come up. They are stuck at please wait state.
I have tired taking the exporting and importing the configuration as well but this no luck.
Please help.

Many Thanks

so the "new" unit takes the config and you can retrieve it again form there?

If you can't be good, be good at it!

Yes, the new unit takes the configuration and I can see all the extensions, users and hunts groups.

The only problem is the phones. They are stuck on "Please Wait" message.
We are using Avaya 5402 digital handsets.

was the "new" unit actually a new unit or refurbed etc

have you upgraded the software to meet the level your old box was on?

Yes, I have. I am using the same pc and same Manager software that I used for old system.
I am sending the config file from same Manager software and same pc.

Thanks

but did you run the upgrade wizard

No I didn't run the upgrade wizard. I just opened the old config file (.cfg file) in the Manager and then connected the new exchange and then send config file
(File--> offline--> SendConfig)

Please tell me if this is not the right way. Sorry I am not an Avaya Expert thats why I need your help.

many Thanks

Hi Tom.
Thanks for your support.
Can you please tell me how to run the upgrade wizard Because I can't see any option for that.
Sorry I am newbie in this Avaya field.

Many Thanks

Thanks very much every one. The problem is sorted now.

Thanks TomMills

I am not sure what version you are running but if it is 3.2, 4.0 or 4.1. i hope you followed the steps to upgrade. If not it may run but you will find little things that dont work or work differently. like every time you get a call it reboots and funny stuff like that...

A digital module always need to be upgraded to 3.2.999 first
Then you can upgrade it
Modules always show 2 versions higher !!!
