2 dns entries for one box

I have a production server that has a computer name \\srvprod . I can not change the name of the machine for various reasons. However, I would like to have a website hosted on that machine and would like for users to be able to access the site at more intuitive name that

http://srvprod

. Is it possible to have a second DNS record so that users may access the same site by visiting

http://srvprod

or

http://something_that_sounds_better?

You can create a host record in your DNS. Users can access our intranet by simply typing http:\\intranet instead of http:\\servername\website.
