Hi,

I have linked a PT 2 PTP 1720 and 1751 routers via cross connect cable and performed initial config. The DSU T1 ports of both routers are now in sync. Do you think the 1720/1751 routers will not choke once deployed in a real environment.

Below are versions of both routers

Why do you think they would choke?

How much data are you planning to pump through them?

What else, besides just routing data, will you be doing with them?

If you are planning on running BGP with all Internet routes, then yes, they will die a most horrible death.
If you are planning on doing a lot of packet filtering, then yes, they will die.
But if you are planning on just routing data from one site to another with static routes using a T-1, then they will work fine.

It is what it is!!

Passing data will be fine but if you nat 200 users to the internet, maintain site to site vpn, firewall, qos, etc. router will give it up. Do a show process cpu history and watch CPU utilization during peek hours. If stay below 60% utilization should be ok. If typically over 60% might want to conside upgrades.

Hi computerhighguy/Joamon,

The established link is a T1, I'm planning to pump a full T1 on the routers. The only purpose of the routers is to route data (static route) from one to the other via T1 line.

Thank you very much for the replies.

It will work fine.

In fact, it may be overkill. :)
