I have a 1720 with a T1 WIC and an ethernet port - is it possible to connect the cat5 that comes from the cable modem to my WIC and then from the ethernet port have another cable that goes to a switch? Someone had told me that the cable modem already performs the function of what that T1 WIC would be doing? If this can work, can someone tell me how to set it up?

Well physically the cable will plug into the T1 s0/0 slot.. but it will not work. If you need to use the router you'll have to have two(2) ether cards...
