Hello all,

I am predominantly a VB person. Don't stop reading because of that alone.

I have been asked to look at an old app, which was previously thought to be written in VB.
From what I can determine, it was written in 16 bit Delphi (I've been told Delphi 1 or possibly 2; not too important, or so I think).

This app has been running for many years (10+), most recently under Win98. The organisation has just rolled out an XP SOE, to all machines. The app in question now behaves in an unusual manner:

Where there should be a check box (VB speak here) you might get the text, but no box. Click where the box should be & the box displays. Unselect the box & it remains displayed correctly.
Where there is a combo box (VB again, sorry) which has scroll bars, the scroll bar doesn't display. Click where the bar should be & it will display. This is also the case for the up & down arrows on.

This behaviour also effect text boxes. I'm not certain this is a conclusive list of controls affected.

I tried setting the app to use I believe EVERY combination of compatability under XP. None made the slightest bit of difference.

The app is also backing onto a 16 bit BTrieve DB. I don't belive this is in any way influencing the issue, but it might be.

I guess I'm looking to hear from anyone who has seen this kind of behaviour before & even better if someone knows a solution.

Silly me, I forgot to mention, we don't have the source code available, otherwise a recompile would have likely resolved the issues all too easily.

Thanks in advance for any further suggestions,

Regards,

Peter.

I'd suggest posting this on to the XP forum. This forum is more for help with Delphi coding. Best of luck!

I'm not surprised that you're having issues - there was a warning when XP was released (Win2K as well) saying that there would be issues with some older 16-bit and DOS applications. Definitely check the XP forum, but I doubt that there will be much that you can do to fix the problem.

Does it help to set the Compatibility tab of the properties page of the shortcut to the program, to Windows 98/ME?
