We have a big law firm in town as a customer. They have a 1416 at the main reception desk with 2 side cars with user appearances programmed for the buttons and 1416’s for all the other users in the office. They have a V2 at 6.0.14 w/VMPro.
They noticed last week that when a call comes into an extension via DID and then if the front desk transfers a call from her phone at the same time by pressing the transfer/user appearance/complete it will join the two calling parties. The issue is when that extension is ringing via an incoming DID call and then the front desk also tries to transfer a call at the same time the only option they are getting on the phone display is “DKPICKUP”, so technically they are hitting transfer/pickup/complete and it's joining the two calling parties. If they do transfer/manually dial the extension/ then complete that works fine.
So I know what the issue is, one way around it even but our problem is the front desk doesn’t want to pay attention to the busy lamp fields or manually dial the extension as they are “too busy” and just want to be able to hit transfer/user appearance/complete and not worry about the rest. Is there a way to restrict the features on the phone to not allow that DKPICKUP or give us the options like it does for the rest of the busy lamp status's like complete, vmal, msg, callbk? I thought it would give us those options but when an incoming call is ringing that extension the only option we have is the pickup option. I thought about changing the button's from user appearances to dial and the extension but they don't want to lose the option of having the busy lamp fields. Any ideas? Can we restrict the features of the 14xx's like we can with the 16xx's through the .txt file?
