i am having a continuous problem in 2 schedules ; one incremental, one full. when the back up starts, the media is ejected and the alert prompts me to eject and insert overwritable media although the media is overwritable.

I have been running the same schedules for 3 months now without any problems like this, i have created the media set to allow append and overwrite so can anyone please advise why i am getting this message and how do i fix.

running 10d on windows 2003 standard

This happened to me the other day.
And it was because.............. the tape was full!

You are not trying to send too much to the tape are you?

hi,

i have a 20/40 tape and it is compressed so it should handle 40 gig. Our data is currently at 20. when i right click properties on the media it shows 18 gig remaining so it should back up

Only if you're getting 2:1 compression ratio (which is rare). Just because compression is turned on doesn't mean anything is actually getting compressed. .Zip files don't compress at all, for example, because they're already compressed.

bearing your point in mind, wouldn't the properties on the media show that it is full? If so, it shows 18 gig remaining.

Also the data has only passed the 20gb mark by about 7 meg
