Hi,

When I boot my G5 running 10.4.2, it starts booting, flashes for a second the Mac screen that normally shows the status bar of things loading, and then goes to the blue background with my mouse pointer and stops.

I booted to the install DVD and checked the disk/permissions and all appear to be good. any thoughts on what might be causing the problem? Only recent change was the installation of suitcase 10. Thanks!

So I've tried safe mode to no avail...hangs at same place. I can boot into Single User mode command line and that's fine but when I run the command to boot into graphical single user, I get the following errors:

cupsd's bootstrap server port not found (five times)

in_delmulti - ignoring invalid inm

/system/library/frameworks/applicationServices.framework/Frameworks/ATS.framework/Support/ATSServer: (-43) Failures everywhere, trying one last time, switching to old FODB cache code

And hang...

In single user mode, I don't see anything under /library/startupitems. Any thoughts? Thanks!

How did you upgrade to 10.4? It sounds like the install is damaged.

You might need to get your data off the drive and re-install 10.4.
