First, I do not claim to be a Citrix expert; however, I have been using Citrix for about a year. We are running Windows 2000 server, terminal services, Citrix Metaframe 1.8

We use Citrix to run published applications only. On the client side an ICA connection has been created to run a published application. Everything had been working ok until recently. Now some users (3-4) are not able to access the published application when clicking on the ICA connection. If you open the ICA Connection Center at the desktop you will see 1 server used, 0 remote applications. For some users disconnecting from the ICA connection and reconnecting solves the problem. For some users this will not work, they have to wait and usually the published application will eventually start.

Most users do not have this problem.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Have you done the usual MSLicensing "tweaks" that are well documented in this forum?

Have you logged into the PC as you (an Admin) and then got the user to the configure Citrix and try the Published Application? Does it work? If the above it ok, then log in as the user and try it again!

Does it work for you? Logged in as you and Citrix Program Neighborhood logged in as you?

Cheers,
Carl.

Have tried all of the licensing 'tweaks'. Have logged on as administator, get same results.

Further information about my environment:
Server 1 is W2K, SP4, DC, licensing server
Server 2 is W2K, SP4, DC
Server 3 is W2K, SP4, Citrix
All clients are either W2K or XP.

basspro,
how are your users connecting to the published application?
I had a similar issue a while back when the user would click on a publish app and it would try to connect and then just go away. It would say in the connection center that there was an active session but the user couldn't see it. The problem was that the program neighborhood agent was corrupt and I simply uninstalled it and reinstalled the app and it worked!
I'm not sure if you are using the PN Agent or Pn or even nfuse but try using a different way of connecting to the app.
Hope that helps.

Problem solved... for now.
After checking for potential licensing issues, uninstalling and reinstalling ICA client (to no avail), checking permissions (which was silly on my part since the applications had been appearing one day and then not the next), and any potential WINS or DNS issues....
I decided to delete the Terminal Services profile for the user, had the user reconnect, which recreated the profile, and everything works OK.

So for now the issue is resolved; however, the question is how did the terminal services profile become corrupt????
