I have an nt server running Exchange and Norton anti-virus for Exchange. They both require an IP address. The Exchange uses the IP for Outlook webaccess and the Norton uses the IP to manage it through a web browser. There are currently two NIC's in the server. One is a gigabit NIC and the other is a 10/100. Oringinally the exchange services and the network logon services were going through the 10/100 and the Antivirus services were running over the gigabit. Since this was slowing the performances of our mail services we decided to switch the functions of the cards. The only way we were able to logon to the network through the gigabit card was to disable the 10/100. Now the antivirus connection wokrs but the Outlook web access does not. How can i get the gigabit card to function as the primary card and the 10/100 to be the secondary?

first of all I think, one NIC can only have one IP address, you need two NIC only if you are connecting this server onto two different network (two different subnet or gateway)

to access the webaccess (I assume this is the same of access the internet with a regular broswer ?) you should check to see if the DNS setting on the gigaby NIC matches the 10/100 card, looks like you may have one setup correctly but not the other, so one can access the web the other can't but the one can't do have access access to the LAN network

I think any one of the NIC would work for both the NAV and Exchange

Open the TCP/IP properties of the Gigabit card slect the advanced button and add the second IP address and mask.
Do not add a default gateway.
