I have my cable modem plugged int oa switch then from there 1 port goes to a Linksys wireless router and another port goes to a Cisco 2501 router. Before I plugged the 2501 in my speeds were fine (3000/128) after plugging in the 2501 my downstream speeds dropped to 300K but my upload was not changed at all. Does anyone know what would cause this and how I might fix it?

Thanks in advance.

We need to know a little more information. First off what is your network diagram look like in terms of where are your PC located? Are they connected to the Linksys AP? Also, how many IP address do you get from your cable provider? Are they statically assigned in the 2501 and Linksys, or does the Modem provide NAT services? Let us know and we'll see what we can do.

Forgive me I am very new at this. I get 2 ip's from my isp. One ip is a static ip that is for the Linksys for now and the 2501 gets a ip dynamic. all pc's are connecting to the internet through the linksys until I get the 2501 configured properly. I am going to add another 2501 through serial to the whole mess asap. So eventually it will be modem to 2501 to 2501 to switch to wireless ap and pc's. I am not sure if this makes sense but if not let me know and I will try again.

Sorry
