I have a MICS 2.0. I want a 1-800 number to ring simuletaniously on 4 sets. Since I'm kind of a newbie to the Norstar world, I would like to know if it can be done. I have been told that I might need to upgrade to MICS 4.0 in order to achieve this.

Thanks in advance!

the 800 number is transfered to a specific phone line on the system. U just need to assign that line (or lines) to the proper extensions. It is the most basic of features, and ALL norstar phone systems can do this.

Will it actually ring the sets or only make a light flash on the sets? A little programmation exemple would be appreciated ) I'm use to work on Meridian 1 and Norstar are a little mysterious for me..

Thanks!

If the line is programmed as "appear only" in the LINE ACCESS menu of the programming, it will only flash, if you set it as "appear and ring" it will also ring.

Sorry can't give more details without actually having it in front of me to write the step by step.

Ok, I will double check the programmation and see if I can get these sets to ring )

Thanks!

Ok... I just got the entire story.... The 1-800 # is transferred to a line which points to the Auto Attendant. They want the option 4 of the Auto Attendant Menu to ring on 4 sets simultaneously. I guest this is called a "Group Call" and from what I understand, this feature is only available on the MICS 4.0 and above. Am I on or off the track?

Thanks.

Yes that is correct for Hunt groups, but you can also do it with an answer DN.

Would you mind telling me how to do this?

Thnaks in advance!

program the choice number 4 in the AA to go to extension whatever ..

Then go into line access of all the sets u want to ring and add and Answer DN of the set u programmed choice number 4 to ring on.

Only thing is this will apply to all internal calls, so if you can assign a phone thats left somewhere JUST for this, it would be best.

Thanks DigitalMind, but I'm not sure what you mean by "this will apply to all internal calls"?

it means if someone dials the DN you programmed in the AA for the xfer, whether it be an internal or external caller, all those phones will ring.

Ok but since it will be and unknown extension, no one should be calling it internally right?

Thanks man, you rock!

correct- it will be "unknown" if you use DigitalMind's suggestion of dedicating a phone (i.e. in the closet) just for this.

Well thanks to both of you for all the help, it is much appreciated )
