1.4 gig herc 4500 256 2100 ddram SLOW !

Hey all ive got an athlon 1.4 gig asus ata 266 with hercules 4500/64 tv/out 256 ddr 2100 40 gig ibm 7200 rpm sblive 5.1 value pioneer 16 speed dvd and sony 12/10/32 burner BELIEVE IT OR NOT its actually very slow logging in. Ie bout 2-3 mins to get past the starting windows 2000 window with the blue bar on it. Once im in it runs really nicely. Sp2 is installed any help would be appreciated.

Make sure you have correct ATA & mobo drivers for Windows 2000. Also, DMA is not enabled on Windows 2000 by default.

Right-click My Computer, select "Properties", "Hardware", Device Manager"..expand your IDE controllers, and check their properties. DMA should be set to "if available"..not PIO mode.
