£ symbol not showing correctly

I have a MAX system whch uses a Btrieve 6.15 database. When I look at the currency symbols through MAX, all is fine. However, if I create a link table in Access or print the contents to a HTML page using ASP, then the '£' symbol comes out like 'œ'

Is there anything that I can do about this?? The dollar symbol works fine. Mise Le Meas,
