I've tried both. TrendMicro has better tech support but is prone to false positives, Symantec has a better interface/better scanning but is a resource-hog. If you're looking for eye-candy, go with Symantec. If you're looking for support I'd recommend TrendMicro.

It might be your browser. Some websites have embedded audio files that automatically play when you access a website. Another possibility is that some ad banners play short tunes when you pass over them with your mouse. If the sounds happen if you have your browser(s) open, this might be the...
Looks like SMS is pushing configuration settings to the McAfee CMA. Since VS is configured to block changes to its settings from other sources outside of the CMA, it'll be blocked. Either you prevent SMS from doing so or allow it from the VS console.

The DATs might have updated but the agents might have not reported back recently to the ePO server. Try manually connecting the agent to the ePO server.

Ahm ... have you tried reading the manuals? It helps to do this.
Also, you can ask your friendly McAfee SE for a walkthrough or installation guide. I'm pretty sure they'll have one of these handy.

What's the actual problem? Can't scan anything with the HP scanners? Or a conflict with your autodownloaders and the HP scanner? What's VS8.0i have to do with this?

You have to configure WebShield to report to ePO. This is under the reports section. Also, you'll need to install the ePO agent on the WebShield appliance (i presume).

Answers:
1. You don't put the update paths on the clients anymore with ePO. You set it at the ePO server level and just assign the update sites to the agents.
2. Pull tasks AUTOMATICALLY go to the Master Repository. I believe the path is \Program Files\Network...
