    Retail POS Software Recommendations Wanted

I have worked with ARS solutions. Very easy company to do business with and responsive to the customer. They will sell software only or hardware and software. Training is handled online and over the phone with overall training time taking 3 months or so intense and then up to a year before they...

    Shoes, so damn hot

Try socks that wick moisture away. https://www.smartwool.com/default.cfm offers many different styles but the heathered rib is the dress type sock. They are extremely comfortable and should help.

Boy am I glad I found this forum...Garden Center POS help please!

If that's the case definitely talk to the ARS people. Where I work we installed everything in July 05 and went live with the system August 1 05. Personally, I have been very happy with both the software and support. Is any of the inventory in a db or spreadsheet?

Boy am I glad I found this forum...Garden Center POS help please!

Tony, Take a look at http://www.arss.com/ It is some very nice software that includes training in the purchase price. I know you can install the software on hardware not purchased from them. I also built the computers for our POS/IMS. As for hardware look at http://www.systemid.com

    IRRITATING words and expressions

Big Picture--"You just don't understand the big picture." I understand that the big boss has a new bass boat with the vendor's logo on it at home and now we have to use the crap sold by the vendor.

    POS System Support

The POS software company I use does support using PCAnywhere from Symantec. They do this with all of their clients to provide training and support(software and hardware). On the initial purchase they helped to install PC Anywhere and then the IMS/POS software and the hardware that I purchased...

    Disaster Recovery Plan for Management

True, more information may confuse management. But the poor sob they bring to fix the problem after your gone will like not having to reinvent the wheel.

    I should have said...

Since everyone is sharing experience.... Col. "May I speak to Kevin?" Me. "Who are you with?" Col. "What do you mean?" or "This is Bob" Me "What company do you work for?" (working very hard to keep the idiot tone out of my voice) Col. "Oh, I'm with XZY company. Is Kevin there?" or my...

Is the american dream still possible?

I might suggest a different track. Continue and finish your Phd. and then look to the US at teaching positions in higher education. The pay may not be the best but there are several perks. However there are drawbacks as well. A highly politicized workplace is one.

    Racial Profiling

I know the end has come but I would like to add that racial profiling has a negative connotation when used in conjunction with law enforcement. If used in a different context the term has a more positive meaning. Mr Milson has the right idea, in that if the term and thought process are used in...

    Google Apps for Your Domain

I don't think a company would(or should) trust sensitive documents, e-mail, etc. to a third party company that can be coerced into giving up the data. Especially when the third party is a company like Google whose primary business is indexing and retrieving search queries. Can you imagine the...

Future of Unix because of Linux

That sounds like another forum I read. A new topic has been opened for people transitioning to Linux. It is interesting to read the posts about "Now I have Linux installed what do I do with it?" Both the host and moderator are really pushing open source as the wave of the future. One of the...

    Skilled Worker Shortage

Greg, You are probably right in the assumption that no degree means the circular file. I spoke with a HR director for a local plant and his response was "Well we have to have some sort of filter and degree is one" The upshot of all this is that HR people most of the time dont have a clue of...

    Breaking news from France...

That reminds me of a favorite cartoon. If I could find the image I would post it. Unfortunately ya'll get to read the discription and imagine. Fellow is standing in front of a mirror in a suit. The suit just hangs off him, much to big. In the background is the salesman asking "Toulouse, Lautrec?

    Future of Microsoft....

I see MS moving towards a pay as you need type of arrangement. "Need to use a word processor?" "One time use $1.00 or we have a subscription for $5.00/month" Something along those lines and not machine specific. Just login and the utilities/apps paid for available wherever you are. All based on...
