    Yep, just did it right now to be sure... but the same error continues to appear...

    How would I know if smbd runs as root? If I do a ps aux then it shows all instances of smbd except one as being run by root. Techshare is a valid user and techstaff is a valid group. I created both of them and additionally created Techshare with smbpasswd -a.
