i'am using dhcp with a nat behind a firewall.
i do not have a local dns server, but if i ping the dns ip with the computer (i cannot connect to the internet with) it responds. i've checked the gateway and all computers (working and the one thats not) are set to the same gateway address.
i get the same dns ip with the working computers as i do with the not working one.

i "tracert www.yahoo.com" it resolved it as 0.0.1
on the first hop it found the server then after than it timed out.
when i did do this same thing on a working computer with the same settings it resolved the ip (216.109.118.64) and did hops from my server to dsl server and so on. I hope this helps
