Sounds like the VSS writer is backing up the database as part of the regular client backup. You need to disable the VSS writer for MSDE on the client properties VSS:MSDEWriter=off

About the only way I can think of is to export it through nsradmin do some reformatting and import it back in. nsradmin -i {commandfile} >output.txt then format this into a file to import it followed by... nsradmin -i {inputfile}

All the DCs are 2003 with the latest updates. Another thing I should say is that we can look on one DC and the account is gone. If we look on another it's there.

Also, I should add that when we remove the PC from the domain and add it back it seems fine for a few reboots but then is unable to login again.
