    first, exch 2003 can work in a 2000/2003 environment (think there is a KB but don't have the # off top of my head) second, there are a TON of reasons for going to 2003. If you leave it in mixed mode, you get very few benefits of 2003.

    yep - verified it here. The dll is obviously specifically written to work via ad users and computers and using find apparently doesn't hit the dll. Complain to MS or write your own I guess.

    Of course the real problem is the NetBIOS name. I assume the existing environment is using ABC as the netbios name. the new one will have to use another. This is supported but hard to manage. So the win2003 domain, ABC.com (I think that's what you said) will have to use XYZ as the netbios name...

    there are a lot of new features, etc in w2k3 you should be aware of - esp a completely rewritten spanning tree algorithm that make replication great - lots of new tools too. Read up on Functional Levels (aka "native mode"). But - I've worked with a number of companies who simply did an upgrade...
