How to transfer DHCP config from NT4-2000 to 2003

I can't remember if this changed with 2003, but with 2000 you can only have one DHCP server per subnet (Active Directory). MikeL

How to transfer DHCP config from NT4-2000 to 2003

Bad idea setting up a new DHCP server without bringing over your current configuration and database. The new DHCP will try to handout IP addresses that workstations already have. It's not pretty. It's not hard to move the configuration from one server to another. I've done it several time...

    Major Users and Group Help!!!!!!!!!!!!

When you say all "clients" were part of the old domain, did that include your member servers? If so you have a SID (Security ID) problem. The SIDs for your groups/users on the "old" domain are different from the SIDs on your "new" domain. Rights are based on the SID for the Group/User (not...

Anyone w/ Experience using OL2003 and Exch 5.5?

We use Outlook 2003 with our Exchange 5.5 servers. If you are talking about Cached Mode, it works fine with Exchange 5.5. There are a couple of very important patches you need on your servers if you use OL 2003. http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;834466&Product=ech...

    Godaddy & Mail server registration

    Here's what I see for your MX records. fanncon.com MX preference = 0, mail exchanger = fannxfile.fanncon.com fanncon.com MX preference = 10, mail exchanger = 24.119.181.114 fanncon.com internet address = 64.202.167.192 I think you need a host record for fannxfile.fanncon.com. MikeL

    Backing up/exporting/reinstalling SAMs

Windows 2000 cannot be a PDC or BDC for a NT 4.x Domain. Whoever told you that is wrong. I suggest setting up another NT 4.x server and make it a BDC. Once that is done promote the new server to be the PDC. Rebuild the "old" PDC (now a BDC). If you like, you can promote the “old” rebuilt...

    Exchange 2000 Cluster Question

It doesn't sound like a cluster issue, it's your reverse lookup (lack of). Why do you think a reverse lookup is a security hole? If you give me your domain name, I can easily find the public IP address of your email server. If you give me your public IP address why are your afraid of me...

    Force administrator Logout

You can give other users the right to use Terminal Server in Admin Mode, they don't have to be Administrators. Go into the "Terminal Services Configuration" MMC. Right mouse click on RDP-TCP and choose Properties. Click on the Permissions Tab. Add whoever you want and give them User Access...

    security updates

How many servers/workstations? Shavilk has a free version of their HFNetChk, that can be used with 10 clients? I think their software is the best, and it really doesn't cost that much. We have it running on 250+ servers. http://www.shavlik.com MikeL

    Network browser Glitch

When you say "visible" I assume you are talking about it being visible in "My Network Places". If so, this list is maintained by your WINS server (or local NetBIOS broadcasts), not DNS. Check that this client is still registering with your WINS server. Check your WINS server for any problems...

    URL / DNS Aliasing

Which web server is she using? I'm familiar with IIS, and I would use Host Headers. All you would have to do is change your DNS entry to point to her IP address. She would setup a new web site, using host headers for www.domain.com. This is how ISPs host multiple web sites with one IP...
