Sorry,
You mis-read. I do NOT have Exchange Server - so I have not tried to change configuration.
Remote mail worked fine in Outlook 97 without Exchange Server. Why do I need it now?
I find it difficult to believe that Bill Gates would allow his products to go backwards.

OK, Thanks for that.
But I do not have Exchange Server - we rely on external ISP & POP3.
This sounds a bit like going back to Windows 95. We used the Internet E-mail service then, but did not need Exchange Server.
Any further advice ?
TIA Vic.
Thanks for your response.
The remote toolbar is what I am looking for. I can get to it on old laptop with Outlook 97, but not on new one with Outlook 2000 ("9.0.0.2711 - Internet Mail only" in Help>About)
View>Toolbar gives 'Standard','Advanced','Web'& 'Customize' options only -...
Thanks for your help, Si.
I have three connection methods
1. Office LAN to POP3
2. Home ISDN to POP3
3. Mobile Phone to POP3.
Home is no problem, I am not bothered about selecting which messages to download. From Home I use DUN to connect to ISP then open Outlook
In Office I start Outlook...
How do I set up Outlook 2000 so that I can view message headers to select before I download them from POP3 via mobile phone?
I need to select which messages I want to read. Simply setting the maximum download size is not sufficient unless I have missed something
