    I think I finally fixed this problem by coiling speaker wire around and around the length of the cable from the hi-fi to t he soundcard outlet and then wrapping it in electrical tape (supersheild) :)

    Thankyou for your replies, I tried turning the output way down, it still does it as soon as I turn it on. It buzzes then plays ok, then buzzes again...It happens on both my computers. I took the hi-fi in to be looked at and they hooked various things to the aux[tv, video, cd] and it didn't do it...

    I want to listen to my mp3's thru my home hi-fi but when I connect it plays fine for awhile and then a very loud buzzing noise starts up intermittently and if I touch the hi-fi box it stops, please help
