    Say Layer 1 is you target layer. Create a new empty layer. Hit CTRL-Shift-E to Merge Visible layers. When Layer 1 is merged with the empty layer, nothing changes except your layer effects will disappear. Now you can export to AE. For some reason AE doesnt read layer styles...

    Sure. Straight AVI works. Assuming file size for uncompressed video isnt an issue, go for it.

    It all depends on the final format.... but Quicktime is the usual standard. Compression is a different story. Sorenson is a great compressor, but for quality I use animation compression or uncompressed.

    Ese "time stretch". I think its under the edit menu... but you can stretch the layer's time out. This causes skipping, as the FPS is decreased. Turn on Frame Blending to help ease this. Keyframe Interpolation can slow/speed up the clip too.

    As far as I know AE cannot support certain Divx /drip Xvid files. Ive been trying to take clips from horror movies Ive had and montage them together... with the same results. One way is to capture them from DVD with certain software and export them to a straight AVI file...
