    Inventory scans

Can you do a wep <epname> status and have it return correctly ? What does http://epname:9495 show ? Is the endpoint in a running state ? Was a wdelep <epname> done before the machine had the Tivoli agent reinstalled (I am assuming that the machine name is the same as before). Sorry for all the...

    SQL Monitoring: Discovery returns 'Unknown/hostname'

It's been a while since I used Tivoli SQL Monitoring, but I had a similar issue and it turned out to be a DNS problem.

    Where to start

I went through the same scenario about 4 years ago. Our environment was a mess with DM, SWD, INV, NetView and TEC. I would suggest contacting your friendly Tivoli sales rep and see about getting Tivoli services in to help you sort things out, especially if you are using TEC. Good luck !

NetView is a stand alone product.

    What Tools to Use??

It depends on what you want to monitor and what you want to do with the events generated. NetView is great for know what network device is up or down and collecting SNMP traps, but Tivoli Distributed Monitoring is the tool for monitoring the computers themselves. All events are channeled through...

I can't install a Monitoring 5.1 profile in linux endpoint

Just curious, what flavor and version of Linux are you running ? Tivoli does not seem to be real aggressive keeping up with the newest (and much improved) releases.

    Windows NT Event Log Adapter

RoSy, I apoligize for not responding sooner ! ITIM 5.1.1 is a Tivoli product, which is also know as Distributed Monitoring. Do you know if you own Tivoli Distributed Monitoring ? ITIM 5.1.1 comes with several prepackaged resource models for Windows that allows you to monitor services, NT...

    Urgent! can install in EndPoint!

wdelep <epname> from the TMR, removes the old endpoint from the object database. On the endpoint delete the .id and .dat files from the tivoli\lc\dat\1 directory and edit the last.cfg file. Add the following line lcs.login_interfaces=<gateway ip+9494> 198.190.1.1+9494 Stop and start the...

    Endpoint disk clone

If you run Inventory or Software Distribution, make sure you have not scanned or distributed software to this 'golden' box. If so, delete the appropriate folders and swdis* files from the systemroot directory.

    Distribution Status

I believe it was patch 67 that broke MDistII and the fix was to install the java pieces of the patch (at least that is what Tivoli Support told me). Then if you install any Framework patches released after patch 67, you end up in the same boat. I opened a PMR with Tivoli and ended up doing some...

    &quot;Access violation&quot; in LCFD log

Framework 3.7.1 (with it's many patches) contain many pieces that allow Win2K to place nicely with Tivoli Framework. If you have a test enviroment, I would load it and begin testing.

    Multiple LCFD Demons

How was the endpoint installed ? If it was installed using SIS, than removing the code is a huge pain, otherwise if it was installed from the cd, there is an uninstall that works pretty well.

    WIDMAP

Yes, you will need to create a new map using widmap add_map <map name>. Once you create the map, add the interp types for the new map for w32-ix86, aix4-r1 and such. make sure the new map matches the logon for the new Administrator.

    Inventory Queries

We found someone inhouse that is savay with MSAccess. They made an ODBC connection to our Inventory MSSQL database and created querries that produce easy to read gui results. The end results are an application that mutliple folks can use to get inventory information without having the Tivoli...
