    complex keys are hard to pull in ae. commotion does a much better job. but if you have to use, use the primatte plugin. that thing rocks. i use it all the time. blonde hair on green screen is hard! good luck.

    it sound like a 8 bit vs 16 bit problem. does it look like the gradients are banding. i could go into detail about why this happens, but basically you can fix this with a little noise, or you can work in a 16 bit color space.
