Using dhcp on Vlan's configured with HSRP

Unfortunately a server is not an option. Thanks for posting AJ1982, I think splitting the subnets will be the answer for now. Cheers

Using dhcp on Vlan's configured with HSRP

Sorry AJ1982, I forgot to say that they are not stacked, they are connected by two seperate DOT1Q trunks between two buildings, they also each have a layer 3 connection to our main router R1. Regards

Using dhcp on Vlan's configured with HSRP

Guy's I was wondering if it is possible to configure HSRP to also include DHCP as a standby also. I currently have 2 3750's, MLS1 & MLS2 that are configured with HSRP on Vlan's 2 & 4. MLS1 currently acts as a DHCP server for both these Vlans. Would it be possible to configure MLS2 to take...

    Closing REP Segments over IP

Thanks for replying Brianinms. I have spoken with Cisco regarding this matter and apparently a REP segment can be closed with a l2protocol tunnel. However this doesnt help me as the L3 switch I am using (ME3400) wont support this. Back to the drawing board. Cheers.

    Closing REP Segments over IP

Hi Brianinms, Sorry to pester you, To close the rep segment via the ubiquitous cloud, do i need to enable some form of layer 2 tunnel to allow REP updates to be passed over the ip link between the two edge ports. Without one I dont see how the traffic will be rerouted on a link failure.

    Closing REP Segments over IP

Thanks brianinms. I know this might be the wrong part of the forum but does the connected router require any form of special configuration to carry the REP updates ie VPN, Dot1q tunnel, etc. Cheers

    Closing REP Segments over IP

H There, I am looking for a bit of information regarding Cisco's REP. I am trying to find out if it possible to close a REP segment using an IP pathway between two routers. Looking at some of the documentation on the Cisco website it looks like it is possible but there is no detailed...

Cant access Switch Management via Ethernet

Burt, Changing the port type of the trunk to the 2801, to nni, has nailed it. Can ping and access the switch from all Vlan's. Although i still cant access from ports on the switch that are in VLAN1 unless the port is set nni, this suits me as I dont neccesarily want to be able to do that...

Cant access Switch Management via Ethernet

Burtsbees, I had a look at the trunk port, the default encapsulation on the ME3400 is DOT1Q. If I do a sh int trunk, the encapsulation is showing DOT1Q on fa 0/1. As i said i can put devices into VLAN1 and have them ping each other and the GW for that subnet. Just cant explain why I cant acess...

vipergg, I have tried pinging the switch from a device in Vlan1 doesnt work, but I can ping the GW for the subnet from that device, its totally weird. As for the auto summary, this is a bench setup so havent changed it yet. Cheers Merry Xmas

Using 2801 for ROS with ME3400

Hi This is probably a well asked question this forum, but i have a problem with routing between the vlans on my equipment. I have a ME3400 with metrobase software connected to 2801 router with a dot1q trunk. I have the native vlan1 and vlans 2-5 configured on my switch and can ping between...
