Hi All,
I'm running BIND 9.1.3rc1 on a Solaris 8 box and every now and then it dies with the following:
May 30 15:11:26 xxxx001 /usr/local/sbin/named[16464]: [ID 866145 daemon.crit] message.c:782: REQUIRE(*rdataset == 0) failed
May 30 15:11:26 xxxx001 /usr/local/sbin/named[16464]...
It's political, I don't have access to the server with the problem but I manage the DNS servers and the mail relay.
The server with the problem is configured to send all mail to my mail relay but one of the DNS servers died. Now although the seconday DNS was alive I can't confirm that the...
Question: On Solaris box.
Does anyone know if there is an entry for a smarthost in the sendmail.cf file and the dns server this box uses dies does the server still send it's messages on.
What happened was our dns server died.
The mail relay is configured as a split dns so it's dns was fine

Hi All,
Small problem, we need to masquerade mail from a single host without affecting any other hosts.
Config at present, one sendmail 8 server for a small data centre where each host that is authorised for relay may or may not have it’s own domain, completely separate from the Corporate...
I've got the same issue so can anyone help with this. In sendmail.cf I've added the following:
# who I masquerade as (null for no masquerading) (see also $=M)
DMreal-domain.com
....but this only changes:
From: Super-User <root@real-domain.com>
which leaves:
X-SA-Exim-Mail-From...
Just as a side issue, I've got a Demon Internet a/c and a MR4C/UK with a Maplins splitter. Now the modem connects fine but if the phone rings I loose connection & when I make a call there is lots of static on the line and sometimes it drops out. Any ideas? Could it be the splitter or is it...
Hi Guys, How do I remove this from my box:
[/i]Connected to ftphost.xxxx.com.
220 ProFTPD 1.2.5 Server (ProFTPD) [10.100.0.181]
User (ftphost.xxxx.com:(none)):[/i]
so that when a user connects he just gets a login prompt.
Cheers
Thanks br0ck & dazbbeattie.
br0ck was right, his method was the easiest espically since it was not a brand new PIX also the copy and paste doesn't put the config in the right order. Oh and dazbeattie, “broken” ring is needed for the mainframe so it’s used on all our desktops and internal...
Hi All, New at this. I've been having lots of problems using wr & copy. I've been able to get the old config of box A. I've also upgraded box B with the image file needed (5.2(9) to support TokenRing) but I can't get the config I've taken from A to load on to B. I'm not sure if I should be...
Hi Guys,
Mixed domain, been hit by the worm but "all" systems have been patched. All Win2k boxes can get to the file&print server but none of the NT4 boxes can get in, they all get \\servername\xxxxx
RPC server is unavailable
What is going on??
Hi All,
Like many of you we have got a double firewall structure but we've also got numerous networks inside and plug into a lager network with 1000's of customers on either side. I'm looking for some sort of solution that would allow us to keep track of firewall changes. For example just...
Hi All,
We've got a number of Wintel servers with Compaq Teamed NIC's but there is one pair, Win2k MSC with a "?" in front the name instead of the usual numbers 1,2,3.... . Has anyone seen this before and knows what it means?
Thanks for that baddos [cheers]
If I make the Secondary the active box, then upgrade the Primary. When I bring the Primary back online, what state will the pair be in? i.e., will I then be able to perform a "stateful" failover back to the Primary or will it be a none-stateful...
Hi All,
We have 2x PIX-525 v6.0(2) with:Serial Failover cable (Cisco special RS-232) Ethernet Stateful Cable 8 Ethernet ports, 7 used with 1 spare Questions? We need to locate these boxes in separate buildings so I need to replace the serial cable with Ethernet. I know I'll need to...
That's right! These boxes are vendor specific and cannot be easily transferred ......sorry, also, I’m not 100% sure but depending you your warranty agreement you will have to pay to get Compaq/HP to change the case and they will insist on doing the change them selves to maintain the warranty
We recently had to turn off port security to allow Compaq Teaming to work also when configuring the PIX the documentation said "Port Security needs to be turned off" because of the "teamed" NIC's(Cisco documentation).
In the last few days we've been doing some penetration...
