    Ahh, It's always the obvious that is so obscure... Turns out to be a bad PCI slot on thge motherboard causing a problem with the SCSI controller card. I moved slots Boot -r and voila everything is working as advertised. Thanks for all the help!!!

    I am running an Ultra 60 box on 2.5.1 and am attempting to load the OS via cdrom. I get the Sun Solaris 5.5.1 banner and the / icon then message speeds across the screen and the box resets. I saw the word 'panic' in the message but it is moving so fast I have no means to capture the full content...

    I am working a SUN ULTRA 60 and I can't boot from the cdrom via the boot cdrom command. The message is "can't open boot device". I have attempted to unalias and devalias the cdrom to attempt to get it going but no luck. Any suggestions????????
