    Gigabit ethernet??

    I am using our old CAT5E cabling in our DC (Data Centre) and running gig links from/to our 6513's to/from the 2950T's that are located in each rack... (6513 is our Core and 2950T's are where the Servers connet into). No problems here and lengths are like ~30mtrs....

    Hmm interesting, I have 10.254/16 for my wan links and have create /30 address ranges so I can have heaps of subnets. dont see why your design would not work...

    Is it a must to configure a routed port on 3550 to connect to routers?

    Hi. I know for a fact that 3550's support 2 methods on getting a router connected to them a) you can make a port a 'no switchport' b) you can create a vlan on the 3550 and associate it to that physical port. Hope my info helps you out..

    Ethernet port speed limiting

    Hi bud. I had our R&D people ask for a 3550-12T switch that they could alter each port to whatever setting, this is what I came up with (taking note that if you set the speed to 64kb and the ethernet is set to 1Gb the switch cant honour it exactly but you get the point... LAB_3550a#sh run...
