Trying to use cat for internet and phones

Adding a second cable would be best....breaking-out pairs to different jacks the worst. This is middle of the road, leave the jacks in place and utilize this external adapter for 2 pair voice and 2 pair ethernet. You will need 2 per location (1) on the end user location and (1) on the patch...

Problems with cat3 running parallel with cat5

AHHHHH! I went crazy tryin 2 sort this out, lol but let me just add..If u are modular(jack)to modular jack (into the pbx )you need to reverse the wht/blu(to red) blu/wht(to green)wht/org (to yellow) org/wht (to black). This is assuming the pbx takes modular cords for port connectivity if the pbx...

    568A OR 568B ?

you reference 568 a/b so i assume you are running 4pr. I would use 568a because it pins the first 2pr to cover usoc and most external adapters..but then again 568b(WECO) is ATT's baby, a grandfatherd acceptance but that's for in place plants

I agree 100% w/ SrTechCon,no ands, ifs or buts.....He defines it for (apples to apples) which elemenates the "bidding loopholes" and seperates companies who invest monies for their reputations vs those who work out of the trunk of their car
