Ken, thanks for such a fast response. I realised after I'd posted that perhaps the forum on Access tables/Jet might have been better. Anyway, you've answered my question. We will soon buy MS SQL Server 2000; I know this doesn't use Jet, so I hope it will cope a little better than Access...- salop1
