    Outlook Web Access LDAP query

Thank you very much - you're a star. That's saved me a boat load of time and effort.

    Outlook Web Access LDAP query

I'm trying to define an LDAP saved query in Exchange 2003 so I can easily find which accounts have OWA enabled, but I can't find anywhere how to structure the query. Does anyone know what to query to find out if OWA is enabled? Thanks.

    Documenting Exchange 2003

I've inherited an Exchange 2003 server and need to document how all the accounts, distribution lists, etc, are set up. Does anyone know of a tool that will extract all the information from AD into a sensible format for documentation. The kind of info I'm after is: List of all configured email...

block someone from sending to our domain

What version of Exchange are you running? If it's Exchange 2003, go into Exchange System Manager > Global Settings Right Click Message Delivery and click Properties Click the Sender Filtering tab and add the address you want to block.

    Exchange restore fails

Found the solution - you have to turn off Advanced Open File option. This is a pain as well, as it means that if you include your Exchange backup in a job backing up a file server, you can't use the open file option on the file server, as it's a 'per job' setting. Going to see if there's a way...

    Exchange restore fails

Thanks for your responces. I discovered what the problem is - it's a result of the backup being a snapshot one. BExec cannot redirect snapshot backups to a recovery storage group - whish a right pain. However, I cannot find any reference as to how you do a backup WITHOUT using snapshots! Any...

    Exchange restore fails

I'm trying to restore an Exchange 2003 Private Information store using Backup Exec 10, rev 5484, sp3. I've created the Recovery Storage Group in Exchange nand added the Priv info store to it, and it's offline, but when I run the restore I get the following message from BE: Unable to restore...

    GroupShield 6 on Exchange 2003

Do any of you know if there is a way to limit the size of the vsapi log files in GroupShield 6? The files keep building up to several GB which then fills the C: drive of our Exchange server, at which point the MTA shuts down. I have to keep stopping the GroupShield service and deleting the log...

    Maximum filename length

Can anyone help. I seem to remember reading a looong time ago about the maximum UNC filename that Windows can handle across a network environment. It was regarding the length of the full UNC filename, not just the 'filename.txt' type. Every now and then, Windows will report an error opening a...

Adding a static route in Windows.

The IP address you're trying to add a route to is BlackBerry's server on the Net. This shouldn't need a static route: For outgoing traffic (BES to handhelds), you just need a default gateway for communication to the Net, and a firewall rule allowing traffic from the BES on port 3101 to...

Propogating registry changes using Group Policy

Hi all, Does anyone know if it's possible to propogate registry settings to machines in a Windows 2003 domain using Group Policy. I want to add an HKLM key to suppress the incredibly iritating 'Take a Tour of Windows XP' every time a new user logs in. I'd rather do it through GP than on each...

    can't hide mailbox

You can hide it from the GAL by ticking 'Hide from Exchange address lists' on the Exchange Advanced tab of a user account's properties in 'Active Directory users and computers'. However, unlike Exchange 5.5, the account still shows in the list of users in 'Active Directory users and computers'...

    Public folder permissions

Can anyone explain this one to me, 'cos I'm stumped. We use public folders for archiving email for individual client projects. A secretary that looks after it had the problem that she couldn't move or rename a folder in a hierarchy that she has publishing editor permissions on. The only way I...

    Outlook loses auto-signature

We use HTML mail format for outgoing mail, and auto-signatures in Outlook 2000 and 2003. Some users want their signature to appear when replying to email, which is fine, until they reply to a message sent in rich text. Their signature isn't added to rich text messages (for obvious reasons)...

    Outlook always launches IE

Thanks for that. I'd already tried changing default browser to IE and then back to Firefox, but to no avail. Editing the 'open' settings of the URL file types did the trick though. Obviously another Microsoft loophole to get you to use IE ;-)

    Outlook always launches IE

I've been using Firefox on XP since it was first available and it is set as my default browser, but whenever I click on a URL in an email in Outlook 2003, it launches IE6 instead. Anyone know why? It's mildly annoying. Cheers.

    Mail disappears trying to send

OK this is weird. We run Exchange 2003 Server with Outlook 2000. One user tried to send an email containing four jpg files as attachments. When he clicked send, the email disappeared: it didn't reach the recipient, there was no error or NDR and the message isn't in his sent items, outbox or...

    Problem backing up local files

We have new HP Windows 2003 servers, with SAN and SDLT320 autoloader. Backup Exec 9.1 is installed on the file & print server, and is configured to backup our Exchange, SQL and file data, all of which is on the SAN. It backs up Exchange & SQL without problem, but it fails on the 'local' files...

Propagating Public Folder Permissions in Exchange 2003

Thanks. About an hour after posting this question, I found the answer: In Exchange System Manager > Administrative Groups, select the storage group containing the public folders. Expand Fodlers > Public Folders until you find the folder you're interested in. Right click on the public folder...
