Well of course the server will slow down as it is using both maximum levels of RAM and swap file space. Software leaks mean that a program continues to use memory but does not correctly release it back for use to the OS; exactly what this problem shows. I doubt very much this is by design...

Is there a command line alternative for dismounting the private and public stores in Exchange 2000. I don't want to have to restart the services, nor do I wish to go through the System Manager interface. All the MS docs only provide the System Manager as the main option. Any thoughts?
