Manual backup of a specific stream

I thought I posted this last week, but cannot find it in the forum. Is there a way in netbackup to do a manual backup of a specific stream? I know you can select the policy and the client, but have not found a way to do a specific stream. We have some backup policies configured with...

    Problems with Windows Update?

Has anybody experienced problem with Windows Update and Server 2008? I am seeing cases where I build a new server and during the Windows Update process it seems to "hang" when installing an update (the particular update seems to vary). Need to close the window, but when I go back in, I see...

backup speed/ rate of windows clients?

We have a lot of Windows 2003 servers that we are backing up as NetBackup clients. All are on 1GB network (not dedicated for backup). There are many different functions to these servers - some are file servers, app servers, etc. We are using Windows 2003 servers for our media servers as well...

    Change of Master Server

I believe that since the server in question is a master server already, you need to remove netbackup before installing the client. At least this has been my experience in the past. Our scenario was similar, we were putting in new master servers and retiring the old ones. We simply kept them...

Slow backup speed on clients that are virtualized

We are backing up client installed on each vm as lan backups. Storage for VM's is on EMC disk and the backup device is located in the same physical data center, but on a seperate SAN (one for storage, one for backup). There are multiple servers in the policies, so, yes, it could be that...

Slow backup speed on clients that are virtualized

Hello, We are running version 5.1 MP 5 of NetBackup, to be version 6.5 by year end. We have several clients running Windows 2003 that have been virtualized. Some of these are running way to slow for backups. Speeds are under 1 MB /second. I saw post thread776-1427082 but did not see if...

    NetBackup across Windows domains

Hi all, simple question: does NetBackup work cross-domain? I think it should, and believe it does, but 99% of our backup errors occur when backing up servers in a diffent domain (windows domain that is). Thanks, PD

how to see available physical disk after installing

Thanks. We ended up using the vgdisplay command which showed us how much disk we had free. We were then able to make a filesystem using the mke2fs command. PD

how to see available physical disk after installing

Hi All, I am a total Linux newbie, so forgive me if this is an easy one, but I've been banging my head on the wall... We built a Red Hat server and partitioned the drive during the install, but I know we left a large amount of disk unpartitioned. How do I see how much disk I have free...

Is it possible to upgrade from Standard to Enterprise?

Hi All, We have a server that is running Windows 2003 Server Standard edition. It should be running Enterprise edition. Is this a simple upgrade (i.e. run the setup from cd and let it overlay the existing os)or do we need to start from scratch? I've searched around, but cannot find the...

Windows 2003 Server hangs at "Applying Computer Settings" during start

TekJunkie01, Thanks for the recommendation. We won't be able to make any changes like that until the weekend. I was hoping someone might have had a silver bullet for this, but I guess you're method should tell us what is happening. Regards, PD

Windows 2003 Server hangs at "Applying Computer Settings" during start

Hi All, We had two of our Win2K3 servers rebooted yesterday and they both appeared to "hang" at the "Applying Computer Settings" message when starting. After about 30 minutes the login screen appeared and we were good to go. We have seen this happen on one other server before. I searched...

    Another mailfile issue...

Are you, or were you, using single-copy object store on the server? Sounds like you may have been set up for that at one time, but it no longer exists and you cannot find the message you are trying to link to. pd

    dB quota

Our experience with Domino 5.x is that quotas weren't really enforced. They sure do work in 6.x though. Since it is the server that is controlling them you need to upgrade the servers too. there are a couple of configuration settings with quotas in Domino 6 to tweak how tightly quotas are...

Notes client performance is painfully slow

I'd check design too. Look for how many views you have and how frequently they change. Also, check for a full text index on the database and if there is one, see if it is set to immediately update - I have seen this kill apps located on a server that is down the hall from me. pd

    Guru status?

Personally, I hate the term guru. I find it is often used by someone else when passing the proverbial buck. For example, someone comes along looking for help with something and though any of us are able to answer it, the boss refers to one of us as the "guru" of that topic and we are so labled...
